Do you love historical fiction as much as we do? We hope so.
Yellow Pear Press is thrilled to be publishing the latest novel from Erika Mailman, author of The Witch’s Trinity and Woman of Ill Fame, a fresh look at the grizzly Lizzie Borden murders that continue to fascinate (and freak out) readers today. Mailman’s take, The Murderer’s Maid, centers on the Bordens’ maid Bridget Sullivan and balances its gruesome Victorian timeline with a contemporary account of fictional Brooke, a young woman struggling to find her place in the world while unraveling her own mysterious past. The Murderer’s Maid will be published Halloween 2017, and we have our fingers crossed that the unnamed film project about Lizzie Borden currently filming in Savannah, Georgia will be also released next fall. We’re picturing spooky book clubs and fun Victorian costumes and signature cocktails…is that so wrong?
If you’re as excited about the gory stories coming out next fall as we are, keep an eye on Erika’s blog, where she’s updating readers with the inside scoop on the upcoming film starring Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart and creepy details from the Borden trial. Already 120 years old, the story of Lizzie Borden and her likely patricide still has secrets for us to uncover.
